Only 5 billion hands to go
PokerStars is the biggest online poker room right now with more cash game players than any other site. With almost three times as much as the second most popular poker room, Full Tilt Poker, PokerStars continues its race for 100 billion hands. The increasing number of players that join the online giant will certainly help reach this impressive number in a short amount of time and in true PokerStars fashion, there will most likely be some nice bonuses to reward the lucky players that take part in the Milestone Hands.
Of course, it is not all about the money and poker studies show that players are more interested in having a good time than actually winning money. PokerStars has managed to capture that essence with great looking software that users can customize as they wish and make it perfect for their needs and enjoy their time as much as possible.
95 billionth hand dealt
Earlier this week, PokerStars dealt its 95 billionth cash game hand which paid out $122,000 to the players that took part in it. The suspense started from hand 94,700,000,000 as PokerStars awarded bonuses for every millionth hand called a Milestone Hand until the 95 billion mark for the Mega Milestone Hand.
Every Milestone Hand awarded players that were dealt into the hand with $20 plus another $60 multiplied by the number Player Points earned in the last 50 hands on the table. The players that got a share of the pot when the hand was over got their prizes doubled. Needless to say that the micro stakes tables were filled with action as the big Milestone Hand was just around the corner.
The bonuses for the Mega Milestone were pretty similar with the difference that the multipliers were bigger. The base prize was $10,000 and the number of earned points was multiplied with a cool $1,000 to make for the final prize. Monday morning, the 95th billionth hand was finally dealt at a Hold’em virtual table for $0.08/$0.16. With nine players at the table, they all seemed to know what is going on and so they went all-in; the only exception was MenFedlak who lost his internet connection.
The $16 pot didn’t count for much when thousands of dollars would go to the winner of the hand and it was certainly a sweat for those at the table. After the table ran 3d-Qd-2c-6h-5h, Domy07 was the first to reveal his Js-Qc hand. The rest then mucked one by one until RickB17 turned over 4h-Jc for a straight and won the hand worth another $23,920. All the other players got prizes of over $10,000, including the one who got disconnected from the table when it was his turn to act.
The next step is now the big one, the 100 billion mark, which will be an amazing achievement for PokerStars that promises to offer the biggest prizes yet.
